Leadership

Taisha Freeman Rosenthal, is currently serving as the Executive Director for Purple Knights, with over two decades of experience in Long Island’s non-profit sector. Taisha has been working in the human services industry with the emphasis in advocating and assisting communities with various needs, from traditional needs to tailored needs.

During the COVID 19 pandemic, Taisha led a team of staff , volunteers, she supported and mentored displaced interns from Adelphi University, students pursuing a career in Social Work. Together they created a dynamic team and supported the underserved communities, by providing easy access to food, toiletries, transportation, deliveries for homebound community members, medical referrals, access to free phone services, wifi services, utilities assistance and financial assistance for burial services.

Taisha has been instrumental in educating the community about policy changes and eligibility requirements and has had the opportunity to build a rapport in the Latino, African American, Haitian Creole and South Asian communities by easing their hesitancy to apply to services due to language barriers and questions about their immigration status.

As a former member of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee in Long Island, she is aware of the need to include diversity as an important aspect of all the work that will be accomplished by Purple Knights for our Carolinians Communities.

Lets work together to help communities in need!
